| сомневаюсь, что правильно понял вопрос. экспаты - челы, живущие и работающие вне родины. так что и те и другие (в вопросе) экспаты. экспатрианты тэсэзэть. |

| Суслик, D-50 абсолютно прав. Если человек имеет гражданство одной страны, а работает в другой стране, он экспат. Если человек родился в России, эмигрировал в США (на каком-то этапе получил гражданство) и приехал сюда работать уже как гражданин США, он для нас экспат. |

expat/ex-patriot = citizen of one country living abroad in another (was born there and lived there and then moved abroad) as for people who are born in a country differnt from the country of their citizenship, they are not expats. they are part of the (ie.) german immigrant community living in portugal on a personal note: being part of the expat community in moscow is the pits... all of our expat "hang outs" are more like dug outs in the dirt with overpriced food and drinks :) |

g. - all of our expat "hang outs" are more like dug outs in the dirt with overpriced food and drinks :) what do you mean? it seems to be vice versa. they like to find some marketplace with underpriced food like мелкооптовые рынки or Auchan hypermarkets, Metro Cash&Carry etc. |

alk maybe that is the "old folks expat crowd" but us youngins prefer real food and real entertainment (too bad i am not rich like a lot of the youngin expats i know here:() |
| gogolesque, i definitely cannot say that Moscow is a clean city, nor can i say so about New-Yourk for instance. The same is true about Moscow being an expensive city... |

syslik a dug out in the dirt was not a reference to the dirt on the street and the expensiveness is not just becasue its moscow. i was referring to american expats tending to try to find the most expensive place and make it theirs becasue they think money = quality in moscow. unfortunately they also seem to like the "dirtiest" bars and nightclubs in the world as they are a release from american puritanism |

syslik: i know this... they dont seem to. not sure why. its the same at home. money does not equal quality where we are from eitehr. but some expats think that in poorer countris money does = quality. dunno. they are silly in my opinion |
| actually, my daddy living in the US is seriously considering hiring people from Moldovia who would make repair and pay their tickets and visas rather than hire local workers (it is less expensive in his humble opinion)... |
