Приведенные контексты Deputy's ID, как мне видится, сугубо американские, и имеется в виду Sheriff's Deputy, т.е. простой помощник/служащий при шерифе (исполнительная власть) что по рангу и сути совсем не равно депутату законодательных органов (законодательная власть) в российском контексте. Учитывайте целевую аудиторию, будет ли там путаница с шерифами, нужно ли более полно раскрыть особенности российских реалий. И учитывайте контекст, если это формальное название на документе, естественно, реалии расписывать там негоже. |

It depends on exactly what 'депутат' refers to, and on the country involved and the linguistic register used, none of which the asker has told us. Hence 4uzhoj's comment about context. If it refers to a deputy sheriff (law officer) in the US, it depends on the register used: * formal/legal English = (deputy's / deputy sheriff's) identification card; * standard/everyday English = deputy's ID card; * informal/relaxed English = deputy's ID. If it refers to some other type of депутат, such as a politician in some parliaments, I don't know what 'депутатское удостоверение' could mean. The asker needs to tell us the full context. |

** Its members are referred to as deputies ** Tamerlane: I realise that's the most common meaning of 'депутат' in Russia -- hence my comment about "some parliaments" -- but it can also have other meanings, such as what we would call a (local government) 'councillor'. Also 'удостоверение' could be a card, a certificate or some other document in English. If it refers to Duma members, I'd still use 'deputy's identification card'/'deputy's ID card'/'deputy's ID', depending on the register. But is the asker's text about the Duma? And does it even refer to Russia? The asker's given us two words + no context. He/she needs to tell us the context. IF it refers to the Duma, I would avoid 'deputy ID card' as that might imply that it's not a full ID card, but an assistant ID card(!) -- which doesn't make sense. So I would use deputy's here rather than deputy. But we need the context. |
