Subject: What is happening with English grammar ... Another's?? I was and still am very curious about some uknown aspects of the English grammar... The other day I came across this phrase "empathy is a feeling of concern and understanding for another's situation or feelings." Why another's? Is it a standard or substandard English? Google gives more than a million of hits. Can you explain this to me?Thank you |
классический possessive case, отвечает на вопрос ЧЬЁ? another здесь - не прилагательное, а существительное, в значении another person так, в развёрнутом виде будет: another person's situation / another person's feelings / my sister's feelings etc. сейчас Вам филологи всё по-научному разъяснят |
