Subject: Death by/death from
Здравствуйте!

Скажите пожалуйста, есть ли разница между death by/death from? Мои предположения, что death from - это смерть от какой-то болезни, а death by - это смерть от какого-то объекта, от электрического тока, от барометрического давления и.т.д.

Мои примеры:

Смерть от действия высокой температуры - Death by high temperature

Cмерть от коронавируса - Death from coronavirus

The difference between 'from + description of factor' and 'by + description of factor' is not that between an 'internal' factor (like a disease) and an 'external' one (like electric shock), but that distinguishing an immediate cause from a background one, while 'by' can introduce an immediate cause of death, as well.

They that shall break the seal of this tomb shall meet death by a disease that no doctor can diagnose.
