Кто хорошо знаком с темой, скажите, гражданка UK с любыми женскими проблемами без исключения сначала идёт к GP, а оттуда - с направлением на анализы или на консультацию специалиста? Читаю guide, и там вот даже с задержкой или нарушениями цикла сначала к GP. К гинекологу в поликлинику напрямую нельзя записаться? Частные клиники не интересуют, с ними понятно. Спасибо!

Я мог бы дать полезный совет с божьей помощью. Очень часто лучше всего идти прямиком в скорое отделение больницы и за несколько часов получить все сервисы, нежели бегать неделями по врачам и тестам. У нас многие именно так и поступают.

If the woman's being treated under the National Health Service (NHS) (as opposed to having private treatment) ....

As a general principle, if she misses a period or has a late period (or has any other health problem), she'd normally go firstly to her local GP, who may carry out tests him-/herself or, if he/she isn't able/qualified to do this, or isn't sure what's wrong with the woman, may refer her to an NHS hospital -- usually a local one, unless the problem is complicated.

However, there are variations between the four different nations of the UK (England/Scotland/Wales/N Ireland), and also between the local NHS regions within these nations, in that some NHS hospitals operate a 'self-referral' policy for some health issues. For example, some NHS hospital eye clinics allow patients to self-refer to them without going via their GP at all. It all depends on the local NHS hospital's policy.

Also, once you've been referred to a hospital for a specific health problem, and the specialists there want to see you again (say, 3 months later) for the same health problem, the hospital will often contact you directly at home to arrange a 2nd/3rd/etc appointment with them, without you having to go via your GP again. It depends on the illness and on whether it's an ongoing problem or not.

If you're the person with the problem and you're living in the UK, you could try contacting the PALS (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) office at your local NHS hospital for advice re self-referral. These offices are manned by volunteers. However, be aware that if you're a foreign national living in the UK, you may have to pay to have NHS treatment, as the system is designed for UK nationals.

Unfortunately nowadays NHS patients often have to wait several weeks to see either their GP, or to be referred to a hospital specialist, as the NHS has been under-funded for many years, particularly by right-wing governments. I won't get into politics, though!

In most cases even with the government insurances we have much shorter waiting time, but our system is similar to a football training session: a dozen of doctors passing the patient to each other and he ends up spending days at their offices. If people are smart enough and want to avoid this ordeal, they go straight to an ER, and get help they need the same day and with one stop. Amor 71 в том-то и дело, что, получается, не одинаковая - в России человек может взять талон к специалисту в принципе без направления от терапевта. Практика сразу обращаться в скорую здесь тоже процветает, но бесит: безработный 30-летний увалень вполне в состоянии походить по врачам в поликлинике по месту жительства, тем более что он явно не загибается от боли, так, что-то где-то иногда беспокоит. На него приходится тратить время, которое жизненно необходимо уделить другим пациентам. Хотя, конечно, случаи разные бывают, да. За ссылку спасибо, всё ясно.

Однако, практика показывает, что во многих случаях человeку вовсе не нужен специалист или нужен другой специалист, и он об этом может не знать. Зачем их загружать без надобности? Лечащий врач может назначить необходимые тесты, поставить диагноз, а уже потом решить, какой конкретно специалист необходим. Тем более в США и Англии, где специальности гораздо уже, чем в России. Например, есть специалисты по ногам и специалисты по ступням; есть урологи и есть нефрoлоги.
