Как эту цифру нормально передать без "тыс."? Вроде бы надо три нуля прибавить:

если там округление до сотен (0,0 тыс.), то так и пишите:
1,072,930.0 thousands of rubles

(и это не цифра, а число)

That's true. My version could be taken to mean that the figure's exactly '....,000', when it may not be.

However, " ...... .0 thousands of rubles" sounds a bit odd to me. And people often round figures up or down to the nearest thousand or hundred, don't they – as in "I paid £8,000 for my car" when it was actually £8,043.72p. I suppose it depends on how accurate a figure is required.
