The HCl concentration of the 1N HCl solution varies with time; hence it is
recommended to exchange the HCl solution every week or alternatively to determine the
normality of the HCl solution once a week by applying a standard solution of sodium carbonate
(Na2CO3). For that a 1 N solution of Na2CO3 (equival 52.9943 g/l aqueous solution) has to be
prepared. Weigh approx. 10 g 1 N Na2CO3 solution in 50 ml distilled water. Perform an acidbase
titration with the HCl solution for that mixture. The *titration volume* for a 1 N HCl solution
