It is quite common practice to predict permeability in cored and uncored intervals by using different methods such as MLR (multi-linear regression), cluster analysis, SOM (self-organizing maps), genetic algorithms and other methods implemented in IP (interactive petrophysics). As quality checks / learning data the cored intervals are being used. Unfortunately, none of the abovementioned methods provided good correlation between core permeability and predicted permeability in cored interval. Therefore, there is a high uncertainty in predictability of uncored interval’s permeability.
