In this context, what's a good translation for "приказ"?

An order has been issued to that effect, which will be published (put up on the wall) tomorrow.

However, there's a slight inconsitency. The order is not about Perets' having left, but that he "should" leave. Just casual speech.

I don't think they mean an order about what should happen. It's supposed to mean a record of what has happened, I believe. By the way, I accidentally took the word out! It's supposed to be:

"но только вряд ли он Перец, потому что Перец убыл на Материк, и приказ об этом уже отдан и завтра будет вывешен... "

В этой книге, несколько раз слово приказ, по-моему, не значит "order."

Here's another example:

"-- Во-первых, не в прошлом году, а гораздо раньше. А во-вторых, он просто погиб. На своем посту.
-- Да? А ты приказ видел?
-- Это верно, не было приказа."

If it is some kind of military or paramilitary organization, "order" is preferable. For civilian organization I would put "memo".

Well, depends on what you mean by "know," Linch! I've never heard the word used like that before, but that's also the case for some perfectly standard Russian.

Amor71 -- I've been using memo, although it's kind of a military organization? I guess an organization exploring a planet would be? But "order" just sounds funny for me in this context... then again, it also sounds funny in Russian, apparently? So maybe sounding funny is the way to go.
