а что в тексте написано до этого предложения?
возможно, здесь говорится о том, что для разных путей введения и основа будет разной
т.е. в зависимости от способа и природа будет разной
скажем, для в/в введения это будет вода, а для ректального - ланолин

а почему именно "нафталанская нефть". Это препарат? а речь о перечеслении вспомогательных веществ препарата...

Можно обобщить. Продукты нефтепереработки. К тексту по фармакологии вполне применимо.

See my comment under your other thread, 'nature and severity of what is being treated', for an explanation of 'nature' as used here.

* 'the nature of the problem' is just a technical way of saying 'what the problem is'.
* 'the precise nature of the problem' is just a technical way of saying 'precisely (=exactly) what the problem is'.

So 'the precise nature of the carrier' simply means 'exactly what the carrier is'/'exactly what form the carrier takes'.
