Pursuant to the Courts of Justice Law of 1960, which deals with the rules of justice and in particular Article 29, as noted above, the courts are directed to follow the constitution and constitutionally consistent statutes and in the absence of such statutes the English common law and equity (prior to independence) would be applied. English authorities provided after the independence are not binding, yet they can be regarded as persuasive.
