Thanks, wow2 -- interesting. I wasn't aware that 'gage' had an additional, Shakespearean meaning (although it won't apply here). This is obviously a US site, as it says 'spelled' (US) rather than 'spelt' (UK) and 'tire' (US) rather than 'tyre' (UK) for part of a car wheel -- so it's good to see that they're finally seeing sense and starting to use the British 'gauge' as well as 'gage'!

Хотя по форме не похож на Paddle Gauge ниже, должен выполнять те же функции: один конец проходной, другой непроходной. Чисто гипотетически это может напоминать весло (paddle), у лопасти которого есть широкий конец и узкий со стороны веретена.
