In UK English, 'cladding' = a protective layer (eg of panels or wooden strips) placed on the walls of buildings (usually the external walls) to protect them from the weather. To 'clad' (past participle also 'clad') is an old English word for 'to dress', as in 'she was clad in a fur coat'. 'Clad' is rarely used nowadays. Instead most people just say 'dressed' or 'wrapped'. |

| 'Cladding' / 'clad in (wood etc)' is still the standard term used in building construction, though. |
