Degassing of the NOVA 4000e and NOVA 4200e

1. Weigh a clean, dry sample tube to the nearest 0.1 mg.
*Note: Only use cells that exhibit no structural defects or cracks. Any broken or cracked cells should be placed in a broken glass container.

2. Transfer sample to the sample cell. Optimum sample size varies depending on the surface area of the sample. The recommended amount of sample will give a total surface area (m2) in a range of 10-50. The sample size can be determined experimentally or from previous analysis. For example MnO2 samples 0.5g, BK1 3-4 g of sample.

3. Use a pipe cleaner to remove sample from the sides of the tube.
Note: If sample is pulled up the cell by the vacuum add elutriating plug or glass wool to the top of the cell for degassing only. Remove for analysis.
