А кто подскажет, как это будет? have/keep/take classes/studies?
|
teach |

Slava: even in my american school and university we all said lesson - i think we tend to prefer british versions of words when they are related to academics and we need to say something more officially - not sure why, but its a habit among us :) |
gogolesque: thanks for the info :-) I personally never heard "lesson" in the US. Even during my entire year at the university :-) Like I asked an American once if they have a slang term for "letting smb. down" or smth like that. He said "yes, we often say "to dis someone". And his girlfriend heard that and said "what! I would NEVER say that!" |

Slava: to dis someone is not so much to let someone down... i have to agree there... to dis is to do something worse than let someone down, in most cases anyhow As for lesson - i think i might depend on the part of the states you are from. but in any case, us students normally said we had to go to a class, etc.. but would often use lesson when talking about what the teacher or professor was doing... we would say that he has lessons at such and such a time, or that he held lessons for 30 years, etc.... ---- i really dont know why, but it was just the way it was :) |
Longman essencial activator class: a period of time in which a teacher teaches a group of students
И еще to deliver |
