Part manufacturers and part distributors who provide the selected part must be required to follow documented and established quality assurance policies and procedures. Those policies and procedures should include, but not be limited to, statistical process control data and process controls on manufacturing, material, shipment, storage, notification concerning process changes, customer satisfaction, and quality measurement systems.
In view of the above, it is easy to understand why a disciplined part selection process in the design phase, as part of a formal PMP, increases the probability of using the most optimum parts in DoD weapon systems and equipment.
