Troy is one of the most famous archaeological cities in the world. The 9 LAYERS seen in Troy display a period of over 3000 years without interruption and enables us to view the civilizations that settled in this unique geography where Anatolia, Aegean and Balkans meet. The earliest SETTLEMENT LAYER in Troy dates to the early Bronze Age with 3000-2500 B.C. The layers of Troy which is constantly habituated later on end with the Rome Era which dates to 85 B.C. - 8th century A.D.

Due to its geographical location, Troy had always had a very important role regarding the trade and cultural connections of the civilizations that ruled in the area with other regions. Troy also serves a reference for the other archaeological areas in Europe and Aegean with the CONTINUOUS LAYERING it displays. This magnificent archeological city was excavated by 1871 by Heinrich Schliemann for the first time, and then by W. Dörpfeld and C. W. Blegen. Today the excavations are still continued by Prof. Dr. Manfred Korfmann from Tubingen University. . . Troy still presents us unlimited information with the excavations that Korfmann and his crew continue; and it is listed in the World Heritage List since 1998.
