Тем не менее, никак не могу удобоваримо перевести:

became ineligible - при том, что кртерии включения/исключения как таковые не упоминаются.
По тексту, возможно имелось ввиду, что не стали "неоперабельными" (но такой оборот в тексте встречался, зачем понадобилось по другому изъясняться?)

2. reassuring
majority of patients obtained some tumour shrinkage and none became inoperable, which is reassuring.

В каком значении здесь reassuring?

3. here
However, ******* is widely used and recommend here

here - здесь, в Великобритании, либо "при данной патологии"?
Судя по следующей фразе - This questions the role of nephrectomy here;
- имеется ввиду клиническая ситуация (?)

4. putting these results in context

In this study, 25% of patients experience progression of disease in the short time off treatment after the nephrectomy. Subsequent stabilisation did occur (71%) after the drug was reintroduced and two patients had a response by RECIST criteria at this point, but numbers were small. It is unknown what effect this progression has on overall survival,which can be only addressed in the randomised study. However, progression rates of 30% occur after nephrectomy in patients who were not previously treated with ****** putting these results in context [18]. 3 - трудно сказать. на мой [непосвященный] взгляд,
"the role of nephrectomy here" может означать и "в каких случаях применяют nephrectomy в этой стране"
