Имхо, волоконно-оптический датчик в фиксаторе считывает колебания - при этом он остается неподвижным. Это как я вижу.
Нужен еще контекст.

The motor on your Ink Rub Tester is a four-speed Bodine DC motor and has calibrated by Danilee Company (tolerance is +/- 2 cycles per minute).
The fibre optic eye counts off the set screw in the oscillating arm cam and does not vary.
The electric box has been secured with four (4) stainless steel locking screws to prevent tampering with the internal controls.
As long as this security is not voided the speeds of the unit will require no future adjustments or re-calibrations.
The two-pound (907 gram) and four-pound (1814 gram) weights are manufactured of solid brass and nickel chrome plated.
They are precision ground to a plus (+) or minus (-) 2/10 once (3 grams) without pad.
The tolerance of the weights is checked using the Ohaus Scout-Pro SP2000 scale.
The only re-calibration required on the SUTHERLAND® 2000 is with the weights; to be sure they lay straight on the base (this is the long edge of the weight, opposite the hook) of the Ink Rub Tester.
They can be adjusted by loosening the alien head set screw, adjust them to straight, and retighten the set screw.
The most important item is to be sure the rubber pads are changed at least a minimum of every six (6) months or whenever they appear worn or have turned brittle, which ever is less.
Re-calibration of the weights should be performed each time pads are removed for changing.
All machines are run no less than 5,000 strokes before leaving our assembly facility.
Re-calibration of the weights, i.e. confirmation that they are straight to the base is also rechecked.
