Winkles - seafood или мелкие конфетки в пакетике типа M&M's.
Skittles - кегли в боулиге.
Для нас разницы никакой, а для них есть несомненно.

Часто наблюдаю такого "короля" в нашем районе. Он явно гордится своим званием.

all the itms on this list refer to traditional and even legendary phenomena which many brits, and most true born londoners, grew up hearing - and sometimes, knowing about. londoners have been taught that only those born within hearing range of the bells of bow church (in eastern london) were true "cockneys".
the other items are all "appanages" of traditional working class london life.
aiduza has well explained the "pearly kings and queens" which still existed about 50 years ago, as did "cockles, whelks and winkles" which were tiny, cheap отечественныe shell-fish sold, along with "jellied eels" from stalls or barrows in the streets to be consumed on the spot.
skittles were the precursors of what is now known as ten-pin bowling in the us, and were played in open spaces and in working class pubs.
