Станки с ЧПУ - понятие "scales" gen.

Коллеги, подскажите, кто сталкивался.

На станке стоит устройство цифровой индикации, на нем выставляются режимы работы. Непонятно, что может означать scales в следующем контексте.

The scale zero reference (REF) can be considered as a precision micro-contact, generally located at the midpoint of the travel. Its position in relation to the geometrical trim of the machine is invariable in time, and can only “move” if the scale is disassembled (for servicing, maintenance or replacement), and re-assembled differently. In this case the operator will have to set the references again. When using scales with reference marks at coded distance, the research of REF is completed after a travel of appr. 20 mm on the travel direction.
Note: for a correct rearrangement of REF position, on scales with reference marks at coded distance, it is important to properly set the counting way, according to the installation instructions.

Здесь это явно не шкала, а какой-то агрегат, который можно собрать и разобрать (или снять и установить). Как его правильно назвать?

точка "ноль шкалы".
Шкалу тоже можно снимать, бо в технике все детали устанавливаются и все снимаются .
Шкалы же как-то ставят на станок.

на практике (устный фр. перевод) встречал именно "линейки" и "ноль линейки"

не спорю, но "шкала" нарисована на линейке, а снимают "линейку"
