2 HWC "что ему до меня" and "Does he care" - are examples of adolescent "speak", imho, in both languages, avoiding the word "love". Definition. "Adolesent": you add a lesson here and you add a lesson there, so by and by, you learn something:-:) |

bvs Извините, мы не поняли... Почему по-Вашему "что ему до меня" и "Does he care" являются именно"подростковыми" фразами? А как же Высоцкий: "но что ей до меня, она была в Париже ..."? |

I see HarryWharton&Co is back now. I say it's good but I wonder where is Oscar? They seem to have disappeared at the same time a while ago. So my guess is the reincarnation of Mr. O.W. is closing on us right now, which is not bad, too, because (believe it or not) I kinda liked him. |

Но после прочтения "Pototoes Are Cheaper" by Max Shulman в 90-е у меня сложилось впечатление, что слова типа "care" (в значении"испытывать симпатию к кому-либо) или "put out" ("давать" в смысле полового акта) характерны именно для "молодежи". Если я ошибаюсь, я готов это признать. You'll be the judge. |

HWC, you mean you have not heard from him? :)) (A wild stab in the dark): he is on a treadmill right now, all right, on a mind-boggling treadmill of reincarnational existence. Jokes aside, I liked him because he had a style, which in and of itself is very difficult. Granted, it was not my idea of lucid structured writing, but it was a style nonetheless. |

As for "put out" in the sense you say, I can't say I'm familiar with that. Maybe it's US-only, and yoof slang to boot. Pretty arcane, whatever the case. Regards. |

Wolverin Yes, he wrote well, I'll say that for him. He seemed to vanish after the Co. made a joke about "Bosie"... Touched a raw nerve, maybe.. That said, can't imagine the real Oscar W. having a bad hairday for months on end - he'd have bounced back with a splendid repartee (which is what the Co were kinda secretly hoping of Oscar Milde). Let's hope he just experimenting with different shampoos and will grace this august forum again. Cheers. |
