Вообще tripwire -- это из военного дела: проволочка, протянутая поперек тропинки и одним концом привязанная к детонатору гранаты или противопехотной мины. Здесь это слово используется в переносном смысле -- "порог", за которым состояние вещей меняется. Я бы перевел objective tripwires как "пороговые события".
