Коллеги, помогите, пожалуйста, еще с одним автомобильным термином "engine top end". Вот я нашла определение, но не знаю, как оно будет по-русски.

Engine Top End
The engine top end consists of the cylinder heads, camshaft, and valves. The components of the engine top end regulate the flow of air and fuel into the engine cylinders.

У меня в контексте речь идет про ту самую модернизацию электронного блока управления двигателем, в результате которой можно ожидать more powerful top end.

Вариант (ИМХО): при обновлении прошивки/ тюнинге ECU возможно изменение (помимо прочего) параметров газораспределительного механизма (клапаны), системы впрыска (опрежение впрыска) и зажигания (опережение зажигания), в зависимости от типа движка (The ECU in a modern automobile, together with advanced engine technology, makes it possible to control many aspects of the engine's operation, such as spark timing and fuel injection.)

"heads, camshaft, and valves" - собственно, как раз ГРМ. Оптимизация работы газораспред. мех-ма?

имхо речь о другом top end:

more powerful top end = (больше/прирост) мощности на высоких оборотах

А если не под лит. обработку, то термин 'top end', как и его собрат 'bottom end' являются конкретными, материальными вещами.

Lavrin, sure ... but that's not what people would be discussing in context of ECU upgrade. instead, they would be talking about the effect on engine output - in the low end, and in the top end of RPMs. (just imho)
