is it a rocket science to open your web browser, then type "bad english", then press "enter"? |

AlexTheBest, throwing stones living in a glass house? Is it rocket science to you to open up a grammar book and refresh the use of articles? That's about A rocket science. |

Good in articles? So write'em! |

852 stones thrown. Not too bad, hah?! Think again, translator, about who might need who, and why the "a" was left. Seems you don't really understand the meaning of "throwing stones living in a glass house", or you have just learnt it (the phrase) and need some practice. This house (yours specifically) is of no help to me. |

852 stones?! Oh, that's awesome! Sorry, guru... Here's the meaning of what I wrote for you to practice: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/People_live_in_glass_houses_shouldn't_throw_stones (see the comment). And now my own comment in a more transparent form. Multitran's forum is full of experts like you who are crazy about showing off what smart asses they are and how much they know about translation. If so, that's good. But a real expert would just answer a newby's question without any comments like yours above. The reason is that they just need no proof of their expertise. Others do. |

One more stone, hah? Your professional record is expanding))) |

_это вам литературу гуглить надо_ Lonely Knight, (sarcasm against Хороший-translator) x-translator, 853 Night, translator. (not sure about the meaning of (the) "x", so just skip it as abbreviations are often ambiguous) |

Wow, it looks like you didn't stop there! If all I write is bullshit, why so much emotion, guru? |

Have you ever thought about logic, guru? Let's give it a try together. At first, you try to convince me there was some underlying meaning in the lack of the "a" in your original post about rocket science: //Think again, translator, about who might need who, and why the "a" was left// But then you write quite a different thing: //My mistake was not removing the "a" after changing "a problem" into "rocket science"// What's that? My conclusion is that you just didn't know (didn't think) enough about the use and meaning of the article, hence, made a mistake. But after you realized how lame your excuse was, you tried to pretend it had been a mere typo. I'll come back soon to tell you a bit more about logic. |

Then you claim I don't understand the real meaning of the idiom I used: //Seems you don't really understand the meaning of "throwing stones living in a glass house", or you have just learnt it (the phrase) and need some practice// After that you criticise the reliability of the prooflink provided: //When trying to understand something, read better explanations than that in the link you gave// Here I must say that the website is not that reliable, indeed. True! But still the explanation is quite correct. Please, find just the same definition from a more reliable source: http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/glass_1 (see item 6). And finally, BANG, you return the INCORRECT idiom back to me in JUST THE SAME meaning taken from a TOTALLY UNRELIABLE source. //And that's your mistake. Thus, you favourite saying comes back to you// So my question is: Where's your logic, guru? |
|
link 20.02.2011 7:52 |
Just to conclude. NO, I'm NOT perfect. But I NEVER claimed I was. And your attitude towards that newby's question is, indeed, that of a guru, which is not quite up to what you most likely are in reality. So, think before you write. |
