Пардон за офф, Black Swan - DVD screenerы хорошие есть в той же пиратской бухте, субтитры, по-моему, не нужны. Сегодня ночью смотрела, аж заорала однажды, хотя балет не люблю. Totally blew me away.

сейчас смотрю....завораживает. без subtitles, но VIadimir правильно сказал - не помешали бы- пару раз пришлось возвращаться. напр, ~ 10:15 - не сразу услышал слово "soloists". рекомендую всем.

Я хотел вначале дать этот варьянт (как там... два действия в прошлом, следующие одно за другим - Simple Past:)), но ПОБОЯЛСЯ))

Come to think of it, past perfect can be justified) Or rationalized:)

Ну и зря побоялись. Вы ж сами все объяснили. Последовательность действий в прошлом выражается временем Past Simple.
Употребление Past Perfect cannot be justified for the following reasons:
1) Союз and подразумевает последовательность, а не предшествование. Оно четко не выражено.
2) Многие "нормальные" современные грамматики говорят о допустимости употребления Past Simple даже в тех случаях, где предложения связаны через союзы before/ after. Они как-бы уже показывают, что было раньше, дублировать грамматически нет смысла.
3) The last but not the least. Аскер у нас ЗАДАНИЯ ВЫПОЛНЯЕТ. У нее Past Perfect даже в опции нету. Она выбирает между Past Simple Vs present Perfect....

I am really glad you liked it. I was totally enchanted (and humbled) by the language!
Definitely worth quoting! I gotta admit - some episodes I watched like, 3-4 times.
Do not skip over those interviews on the 'extras' disk, esp. the one with S.Fry.
Actually, I am not too much into the movies; nevertheless, I have noticed
a certain 'reviving' trend nowadays of using comic books as an 'inspiration' for movie scripts/movies.
Take, for example, "Sin City". Done in a 'tough' Am. environment.
Now, back to Black Swan.....must finish it tonight.
