The harvest broth is transferred by air pressure from the fermenter to a harvest tank in the isolation area. There, the harvest broth is diluted to a wet biomass concentration of 10 - 15% by addition of purified water. To enable homogenization, pressures of 600 – 800 bar are applied and the harvest broth is constantly stirred. After homogenization the diluted broth is transferred via a heat exchanger to the separator (disk stack centrifuge), where removal of cell debris and fermentation by-products is carried out.
