"stammer" is generally inserting involuntary pauses and sometimes syllabic repetition in speach (типа, э-э) -- "запинаться" "stutter is usually spasmodic repretition (or sometimes exaggerations) of initial (or sometimes middle) consonants or whole syllables -- "заикание" |
| And then, of course, there is Oxford Stuttering when people ( obviously, chiefly Britons, my dear!) are so-o-o-o damn highly cultured and courteous that they stutter DELIBERATELY, not to make others around them feel inferior. |
| 2V: by the way, do you happen to know what sort of British pronunciation it is where people seem to pause almost for a whole second before they utter their plosives (especially p,t, k, b, d, g, etc.)? The way it sounds sort of staccat..........to. Is it what you say Oxford Stuttering is? Actually, I heard (on the telly) many Londoners speak that way. |

| Я слышал несколько раз, как сэры и джентльмены с произношением типа Робина Кука (I love it!) действительно не так, чтобы заикались, но забалтывались, типа I...I...I... И правда, очень органично получается! |
