extingency

Возникли проблемы с этим загадочным словом - extingency, как я понял, не у меня одного.
Контекст следующий: For Roman translators, the task of transferring a text from language to language could be perceived as an exercise in comparative stylistics, since they were freed from the extingencies of having to ‘make known’ either the form or the content per se, and consequently did not need to subordinate themselves to the frame of the original.

I was writing a letter and started to use, "extingencies", then realized I don't quite know what it or, "extingency," mean, or if they are even words. A quick Google search suggests they are, but does little to provide a definition. My memory seems to think extingencies means something along the lines of "the difficulties that arise from a certain situation." Is that correct? Am I misspelling it?

Hence the following:

a. 1. Having the power to tinge.
As for the white part, it appears much less enriched with the tingent property. - Boyle. Source.

With the suffix "-cy", "tingency" would, therefore, mean the state or practice of having the power to tinge. "Mondrian in Paris mastered the art of Cubist tingency" - quidnunc kid.

Adding the prefix "ex" (without, not, away from) we define "extingency" to be "lack of the quality of applying colour".

"Thus being shown to be a brute of little thought or education, Chy's face turned white: shame's extingency prevailed o'er nature's usual pink hue".

может быть, но какая-то вездесущая опечатка, оно встречается не раз и не два:

exigencies вроде по смыслу подходит. возможно, какое-нибудь распространенное неграмотное употребление

я поначалу подумал, что автор тролль:) Не знаю, можно ли отнести это extingencies в категорию eggcorns (http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2010/09/26/so_wrong_its_right/), но меня больше интересует причина искажения. Чисто фонетическая? extIngencies(?) ведь далеко и от Exigencies и от igzIgencies. Может extinguish тут замешано? Stringent?

может быть и stringent, как знать. в большинстве случаев это что-то, связанное с чрезвычайной ситуацией:
'extingency' measure, или
Of course, they had the cover, "operational extingency", and permission from someone wearing stars to do it.
единственное, что похоже на extinguish:
"OK Chief, the fire's out. Oh sorry, I mean I can confirm we have extingency in the Oak Lane situation." (http://monkeyfilter.com/link.php/12629) - хотя понятия не имею, откуда фраза.
