"badass" |
fucking good |
I would not translate this with profanity. Although it may appear (after watching too many U.S. movies) native English speakers can't string several words together without using the f-word, it is not true. It seems like the Russian word does not have any profanity-laced flavor, so it would be linguistically correct to translate it with a similarly neutral (i.e. void of profane flavor) word. "Cool" is fine, "awesome" works. If you want to be more "edgy" use "kick-butt". The word "a$$" is also considered profane by many, so it is better to avoid using it, especially if you don't know who your target audience will be. |

2 Тимурыч: I am. |
2 ms801: согласен. По теории, переводить ругательства, непристойности и арго не следует, равно как и передавать в переводящем языке ошибки (вольные или невольные) в исходном языке. |
