Общий вар.:
Вы можете привыкнуть мысли о том, что "и так сойдет".
make do
make do to manage with the things that you have, even though this is not really enough:
I hardly had any food in the house so I just had to make do.
make do with/without
I usually make do with a cup of coffee for breakfast.
For many people, make do and mend (=when someone manages with the things they have and does not buy anything new) was a harsh reality.

Приколитесь, интересное употребление артикля:

It was, he said, "a knowing how to win". It came with a package of attributes, he added, including "confidence, poise, an ability to project".

(a knowing)

По теме: make-do как noun
Mr Jamieson asked me for my impressions, seeing the old school again. How had it changed? Portakabins aside, there was much less of a sense of make-do. You could see the pupils taking pleasure in the quality of the music equipment or the new gym.

Прикольное еще употребление "cure-all"

Talking to the few remaining residents of the "V-Streets" and its surroundings, I'm reminded how in these designated areas of deprivation, one sometimes felt that new housing had become a cure-all. The prevailing view was often that if an estate were knocked down an area could start again. As if everything – all the social ills – could be sorted with a re-build.
