Подскажите, пожалуйста, как правильно перевести предложение Place the transmission in one gear after another.

Это фраза из инструкции к автомобилю. Я не вожу машину и не могу это правильно перевести.

Run the vehicle at low speeds to check that the clutch, transmission, parking brake, and service brakes are operating properly.
• Depress the clutch pedal 4 to 6 times. (Except for automatic transmission vehicles).
• Place the transmission in one gear after another. (On automatic transmission vehicles, place it in one range after another.)
• Operate the parking brake and service brakes 4 to 6 times.
