But to answer your question, you usually don't speculate in a scientific work. You normally deal with facts, you can also hypothesise, investigate, research, study, compare, theorise, argue etc. etc. Leave speculation for mass media. But it's only my opinion.

Your excellent thesis was very welcome but is there much scientific evidence as yet to back it up, or is it mere speculation?
Peer review is an essential dividing line for judging what is scientific and what is speculation and opinion.
