Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:
The trenching machine is centralized above the pipeline. This can be done in two ways: In very shallow water: poles can be used fore & aft to align the machine. In deeper water: the jet manifold is lowered into the water until the pipeline appears on the front sonar screen.
