Asymmetrically trimmed estimates: Sh/mean and Sh/mid Like the Midmean, the shortest half or ‘‘shorth’’ estimators trim half of the data. However, shorth estimators use the most compact half of the data rather than the middle half. Shorth estimates are known to be rather inefficient, even compared to the Median, but are less sensitive to asymmetrically distributed value outliers.
