Subject: национальности на английском BrE Дорогие коллеги,помогите разобраться с названиями национальностей в единственном и множественном числе. русский - a Russian, испанец - a Spaniard I'm a Spaniard - корява ли эта фраза? (по сравнению с "I'm Spanish) |
I'm Spanish is what we normally say. If you were to say, "I'm a Spanaird" it would most likely be in the context of a discussion of something which deals with nationality. "I'm a Spanaird, not a Mexican!" |

Susan, thank you very much! Can I say "the Russian" about a group of people? Or only "the Russians"? Does the variant "the Spaniards" exist? If yes, when do I use it? |
The Russian people/nation is a multi-faceted one. The Russians came in and took the place over. |
Nouns: a Russian - the Russians a Spaniard - the Spanish Adjectives: |
