Лингвисты твердят одно, а бизнесмены имеют свои соображения. напр Scandinavian linguistic area явно согласуется с определением. Linguistic area is used in a technical sense by Emeneau and is equivalent to the German term Sprachbund. He defines a linguistic area as 'an area which includes languages belonging to more than one family, but showing traits in common which are found not to belong to the other members (at least) one of the families.' Weinreich preferred to call a linguistic area as a 'convergence area' rather than linguistic area and said that it would be more specifically meaningful. Emeneau reacted to this by taking the process of diffusion into consideration and suggested 'diffusion area' as a specific and meaningful term for India and historical grammar.
