The code indicates its’ position on the systematic framework of 237 colours in terms of hue, greyness, lightness and weight as follows: The first 2 digits signify hue [redness, yellowness, blueness etc] in spectral sequence and steps of 2 [making an allowance for neutral colours] from 00 [neutral] to 24 [purple]. The alphabetic code element signifies greyness from A to E in diminishing steps of greyness i.e. A = Grey, E = Clear.
