Beatniks, the "Битники" Представители "поколения битников" [Beat Generation ]. Впервые о "битниках" (о поэтах, собиравшихся в книжной лавке "Огни большого города" [City Lights Book Store] в г. Сан-Франциско - А. Гинзберге [Ginsberg, Allen ], Г. Корсо [Corso, Gregory], Л. Ферлингетти [Ferlinghetti, Lawrence] и Г. Снайдере [Snyder, Gary ], а также о писателях Дж. Керуаке [Kerouac, Jack] и У. Берроузе [Burroughs, William]) было написано в газете "Нью-Йорк таймс" в июне 1959. (Впоследствии суффикс -nik стал продуктивным - возникали слова: [peacenik] - " мирник", [Vietnik] - " вьетник", участник кампаний протеста против войны во Вьетнаме и др. Толчок к его распространению дал запуск СССР первого спутника [sputnik], после чего один из экспериментальных спутников США, который не удалось запустить, получил у журналистов название [flopnik] (" провальник"))
