In this context it is worth noting that Art. 77(2) of the Russian Constitution envisages a "single system of executive authority in the Russian Federation", although only "within the jurisdiction and joint jurisdiction of the Federation". While this provision has a specific area of application, it indicates that closely interconnected relations between the Federal executive and the executives of the subjects of the Federation are not ruled out in the first place.
