On second thoughts, emotional distress is probably what we call in Russian моральный ущерб. And what about компенсация? Should it be just compensation if it is used in the court?

В западных словарях попадается понятие "moral damages", но это непосредственно компенсация. А вот как перевести сам процесс, для меня было загадкой... до сегодняшнего дня :-)
