In several instances in the unit the nitrogen connections have been hard-piped. In some cases observed to date, these tie-ins have been provided with Figure-8 or Spectacle blinds. The concern presented by the current construction stems from the potential for contamination associated with a hard-piped system. Often in this type of system check valves are utilized at each drop to prevent reverse flow into the system. The existing Figure-8 blinds help to partially mitigate this concern.

Думаю, что здесь дело не в том, используются шланги или жесткие трубы, а в том этот unit подключен к трубопроводам ПОСТОЯННО. Вероятно, возможны и другие варианты.
