In British English это будет 'to have arrived'. Example:

When my poor parents bought a poxy Nissan Micra, they thought they have arrived...

Забыла сказать, что 'to have arrived' - это только разговорный вариант.

выражение безусловно имеет право на жизнь, но ведь в жизни (сори за тавтологию) можно по разному состояться, а так несколько однобоко получается
"to be accomplished in life" or smth like that is the most general here, methinks
