отчислить студента из ВУЗа

Никак не могу определиться с переводом "отчисление студента". Подходит ли dismissal в данном случае?

У нас в институте при проведении воспитательных бесед преподаватели, грозя исключением, всегда употребляли expel (когда речь шла именно о неуспеваемости)
