a stone's throw - скорее всего...

A stone's throw from Jerusalem I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight...

I am happy with my job -
I am happy with my work - я довольна своей работой (= у меня все хорошо получается, процесс идет :-))

2Slava - not quite, though. What about "Here's to a job well done!" or "If you do a good job with this project, I'll give you more responsibility". Clearly 'job' here is not a profession (as per your definition) but a task

One can hold a job, do a job, outsource a job, advertise a job, do a job on the side, 'do a job' on somebody, look for a job etc.

One can also go to work, work on a thesis, do their work, work on somebody, work somebody over, work in a cafe, work on oneself, work out, work things out, look for work, etc.

"it is/it's (just) a stone's throw (from here)" is right

2 kath: yes, you're right, but I think the distinction above (job as a "profession", work as a "process") still works. Once a student's learned that, he can then go on to learn that "job" can also be used in a different sense, just like you've shown in your examples. This is probably the best way to learn the difference between those two words.
