Environment is a key variable in management research performance.
7 Bettis and Hitt discuss complex and rapidly changing environments,
often referred to as turbulent environments. But what
some researchers call turbulent, others call dynamic (Hart and
Banbury 1994). To avoid confusion in this research the word
‘raplex’ (rapid and complex) will be used for environments that are
both rapidly changing and complex. Thus, a raplex environment is
a rapidly changing, complex and unpredictable environment.
