Subject: undergraduate college Пожалуйста, помогите перевести:undergraduate college training and graduate shcool training Выражение встречается в следующем контексте: after four years of undergraduate college training and graduate shcool training Заранее спасибо |
Undergraduate is your standard 4 years of university/college resulting in Bachelors degree Graduate school is ASPIRANTURA in Russian, when you get your Masters Degree. Basically what this person is saying is "after a lot of education" |
2кэт graduate school - это магистратура, а не аспирантура |
i stand corrected. you know russian system better. i just know that graduate school is the one that leaves you with a masters degree, unless you're in england and you get an entire range of various graduate degrees, like m-phils, d-phils, etc. in addition to m.a. |
In America graduate school can encompass any and all education levels that follow undergraduate, ie, the initial 4 years, bachelors. However, when someone says "I'm in graduate school" it is understood that the person is working on his/her Masters or MBA or similar. When someone is working on a PhD (doctorate) they usuall say that. Ie, I'm doing a PhD, I'm working on my doctorate, I'm writing a thesis, etc. In your case, above, I would safely bet that the person is talking about a BA and Masters. Not PhD. |
Sorry, my head was elsewhere - post-graduate, of course, is the PhD/doctorate. However, I stand by my last sentence. Again, my apologies. My head is a bit fried today. |
