Нужен перевод слов window и windowing как терминов, применяемых в спектральном анализе (точнее указать не могу, т.к. не специалист).

Discrete Fourier Transforms use finite length records. This departure from the requirement of the Fourier Transform for a signal record of infinite length results in an effect known as "leakage." The term "leakage" comes from the effect of signal energy appearing above and below the signal frequency in the spectrum plot.
Windowing minimizes the spectral leakage effects resulting from the measurement of signals that are not periodic within the data frame. Leakage occurs whenever there are not an integer number of cycles, for each frequency component of the measured signal, contained in the data frame. It results from the truncation of signals within a finite-length data frame. That is, the snapshot of the signal has sharp beginning and ending edges. This sharp edge effect acts like a square wave signal to produce many false frequency components in the Fourier transform. It appears that the signal has "leaked" to adjacent frequencies in the spectrum.
A window is defined mathematically as

where g(t) is the window weighting function and T is the window duration. The window forces the first and last part of the data frame to zero and makes the measured signal periodic within the acquisition frame.
As examples, consider the rectangular (also known as boxcar) and Hanning windows

Windowing - весовые функции преобразования Фурье (см. выше, про Spectra Lab). Доступны 7 функций. Создатели программы считают интересной функцию Уэлша (Welch).

только предположение и Вам наводка (очень далек от этой области): для windowing встречается "функция окна" и "финитная функция".
