A vessel designed for special assignments in both peace and war. They include intelligence-gathering and fleet command vessels, air, surface and subsurface reconnaissance ships, training ships, logistic and special support ships, depot ships for submarines and surface ships to provide mobilization supplies for large units: weapons, fuel, water, provisions, electric power and recreation facilities for crews as well as technical service vessels, including those for recharging on-board nuclear reactors, survey ships and special battle training ships.
