| A disease caused by the fungus Penicillium marneffei, which is endemic in Southeast Asia especially Northern Thailand. Symptoms include fever, anemia, weight loss, and skin lesions. Penicillium marneffei infection occurs mostly in people with weakened immune systems, such as people with HIV.
